Straight out of the box..
The first thing that struck me was the colour, I remember in the unboxing video that I got very excited about it, to date so far this has the best paint finish on an model I’ve had from Otto-Mobile, it’s deep glossy purple with a excellent metallic effect. simply stunning.
In detail the exterior.
Starting at the front the classic R34 look has been beefed up with a slightly deeper front bumper, sporting a Nismo branded intercooler, photoetched mesh. the lights are recessed and very well done, with crisp sharp detail in the inner headlight. leading onto the bonnet which sports 5 large vents fluted into the bonnet.
From the side profile, you’ll notice the front wings are wider and squared off again which adds the overall Aggressive stance of the GT-R, slight deeper side skirts which are colour coded and finished in that lovely purple paint. Shrouding the rear arches are the wheel arch spats which widen the rear ever so slightly and coupled with a very small wheel arch gap.
The rear sports the Standard Spoiler seen on the Normal variant of the Skyline GTR, with a rear part of the spoiler finished in carbon fibre effect. Rear window demister lines and a rear wiper finish the rear window nicely, which on this model the rear window is made of a much harder material that the thin side and front windows, on this subject I expect having thin acetate windows is how the model cost is kept down.
The rear on the model you’ll find those distinctive R34 GT-R lights, that has been a trademark since the early GT-R’s where made, is a nice trait to continue on most car manufactures don’t carry forward such design elements, you’ll always know a skyline from its rear lights! These lights on the model are fantastic even the details on the reverse and fog lights are excellent.
Finally the wheels on this model suit this model’s look and colour perfectly, normally on these special editions you’ll find a five spoke style Nismo rim, normally black. This model has a great set of gold BBS branded wheels with a chrome split rim. Behind the rim sits one of the best looking calliper and discs I’ve seen on a Otto-Mobile both slotted detail and a crisp metal look, sporting silver Brembo brake callipers, with the Brembo logo in red.
In detail the interior space.
So the interior was quite difficult to capture, but as you’ll see some of the detail around the dashboard and the steering wheel is quite something for a sealed model with the very tiny Nismo and SRS badges carefully placed on it. the interior moulding is nice and the red accents on the seats, steering wheel and door cards make the interior a interesting focal point, there’s only so much grey we can cope with! Take a minute to look at the print quality on the clocks, its still very legible even for the tiny size of them.
Verdict?
Goes without saying that Otto-mobile models represent excellent value for money, this Skyline R34 GT-R Z-Tune is truly one of the greats from Otto-mobile. Everything about this model is just so right and works really well, the level of detail from Otto-mobile seems to get better every year. So if you collect JDM models or lucky enough have a Skyline then grab this model as soon as you can.
