Straight out of the box..
This new Nissan Silvia Model from Otto-models is a dead cert for JDM collections, taking elements from its bigger cousin the Skyline R33 400R, The 270R is a limited run production car from the late 90’s in fact as a limited edition run of only 50. With additional aero on the body kit and some other upgrades to boot. Otto-Mobiles announcement that this model would be available in October 2021 had me jump on their website and pre-order this model, it’s a given right? I collect JDM models so I’m gonna get me one!
I don’t need to go into packaging as usual I’m glad its the way it is , it keeps the cost down and Otto-models whilst not perfect all the time represent true value for money in this current collecting primary market. My model did have a broken mirror (not enough glue and an easy fix) and an off center rear badge. as with all Otto-Mobile models it comes with a spare decal so that’s not a big issue either.
In detail the exterior.
I don’t have many black models in my collection and as I colour for a automobile they do look stunning but black tends to hide the details, so I’m glad that the Nismo 270R comes with a contrasting set of side decals and silver wheels that breaks the cars black body work nicely. it shouldn’t be confused with the other Otto-Mobile S14 Models like the Fuchsia Purple S14a although they are an S14 the body styling is very different with major differences, if I ever I have good fortune to acquire on a comparison will be in order!
This version of the S14 has a rounded look than the S14a but aggressive body kit as and hood scoop reminiscent of the Nissan Sunny GTi-R (Pulsar) remember that bad boy? at the front you’ll find the large front bumper with a wide open intake which within that sits the large front mounted intercooler. two large indicators and air vents side each side of the intercooler opening finished off with the older style Nismo plate. The bonnet has a green Silva emblem badge and that rather large bonnet vent with ‘Nissan Motorsports International’ written on it, bent sits on a raised bonnet bulge with from some angles isn’t instantly noticeable.
Moving on to the side the front bumper has side repeaters and a large vent situated just in front of the wheel, the silver graphics which break the cars paint work up sports a line design which thickens in to the Nismo Logo and 270R text, the sides are bigger than others and add nicely to the cars overall stance and aggression.
Around the rear we find the rear boot spoiler and its a bit smaller than the later S15 but still would do its job well, the rear lights are very well done and again are somewhat noticeably different than the other S14 model, the rear is badged with 270R and Nismo with the Nissan logo in the middle of the lights. The bumper is not stock with a bigger overhang and a nice big lip on the bottom edge, finished of with a nice single exit pipe.
The wheels on this model are finished in silver and again are different to the other S14 models, I think silver wheels were a good choice on a black car, the five spoke design reminds of the Toyota MR-S. Behind the wheels sit the Brembo brake callipers, finished in black with white logo. overall the wheels may feel a little understated for the cars bodywork and overall look, but they are period correct and as its and Otto-mobile a wheel change would be easy enough!
In detail the interior space.
The interior is nice with the Nismo patterned seats in a black & white chequer design with the Nismo logo incorporated into the seats design, finished off with blue side bolsters. Dash board details are great with the red/blue of the heater controls present and a nice set of dash gauges and steering wheel. Overall a good good relative to the price point.
Verdict?
A brilliant companion to my S15 Aero and a great stand alone JDM model from Otto-model, it did come with a broken off wing mirror but that cant be blamed on Otto-mobiles more likely done in transit. If you like JDM cars and want something that isn’t an Mitsubishi Evo or Skyline its a worthwhile buy, at the time of writing this blog October 2021 new they were 59.95 Euro (plus delivery and Import Duty to the UK) on the secondary market expect to pay around £95-£110 for this imported model .
Pros:
- Great value for money
- Based on a real limited edition car
- Paint and decals are very good
- Detailed interior
Cons:
- Very delicate windows
