Straight out of the box..

This model is one of my wildcard purchases, I used to own a Kyosho Audi R8 so I needed a R8 in my collection, I read somewhere that i-Scale is basically Kyosho, but that’s not confirmed and as we know many manufacturers now use the same factories to produce models in China. Comes in Audi dealer styrene clamshell box. It is a Diecast model with opening features.

In detail the exterior.

The unusual colour is the making of this model , described as camouflage green, its a satin or matte green metallic paint with carbon parts. definitely a well made model from a make I’d never heard of. The front of the R8 is the later generation which sports a larger honeycomb grill with a chromed trim, its lights are well recreated, sitting on the front is a very fine Audi 4 circle emblem.

From the side the model sits well on its large lattice style wheels, it retains its sleek sharp lines well and the carbon fibre intakes match well with the paintwork, the doors inset style and tucked in door handles. behind the rear quarters is more carbon fibre panelling which is very nicely done. The wide rear arches smooth into the rear of the car smoothly showing of its curves when displayed on its side profile.

At the back end of the model shows off the raked rear end which is both angular and gives the model stance, faithfully created lights with and inverted design aspect of the mesh under the lights, the twin legged spoiler adds height and rake to the overall look of the model. The bottom half of the rear bumper is the black diffuser and large tailpipe exit. This model has the true supercar stance and would appeal to Audi fans and Supercar collectors alike.

The large lattice forked wheels although angular in look seem to suit the car well and a high silver finish makes the wheels pop out against the contrasting paintwork. Tyre and tread pattern are realistic and the centre caps have the Audi 4 rings logo on them. Behind the wheels clearly visible is the large calipers with the Audi Ceramic logo on them and a nice cross drilled brake disc to complete the deal.

In detail the interior space.

The opening front hood, boot or frunk whatever you call it opens to reveal a nicely flocked interior space with washer bottle cap and outer plastic panels. It is dogleg hinges but does have struts which is a nice touch especially at the price point.

Opening the doors into the cockpit, which definitely feels like a Kyosho flocked flooring, really well detailed cabin space with all the touches and accents on the steering wheel, the dials and cluster looks great and the centre console is decorated with carbon fibre. the Tan seats go extremely well with the exterior colour and interior alike.

The rear engine glass (plastic) opens up to show a carbon fibre engine bay with the V10 engine on show, the rear glass has heater lines and struts , although mine has a broken part.

Verdict?

The Audi R8 is well known Super Car and I’ve owned the Kyosho version previously which may be slight better but almost on par with each other, iScale is a brand that I believe that it is tied to Kyosho in terms of build. A worthy addition to a collection but there are a few different brands that make a R8 model out there so make sure to find the one that fits your budget and needs. Overall a very good model with outstanding details .
