Straight out of the box..
I realised when I decided to start this website that I would have to at some point look at cars that I wouldn’t necessarily want to own in my collection, because in the future I’m going to run out of cars to talk about! So when the JDM offerings are dry or financially out of reach I will be buying models to fill in the gaps, this is one such model. The recently released Peugeot 106 Maxi Dimma from Otto-mobile. I wont go into the packaging as we should be familiar with it by now.
In detail the exterior.
Otto-Mobile has made a lot of Peugeots! I’ve got another coming up soon to look at, This little hot hatch belongs in the Max Power and Fast car era of the 90’s, a popular choice for boy racers to zip about in, anyway enough about the history lets move onto the model.
This all white model sports a wide body kit, which in the day was all the rage, super wide front wings, with a nice front bumper with large front fog lamps, the clean lenses are clear and crisp with the effect of an indicator bulb inset into the cluster. The bonnet has the tri colour that is used for the Rallye line of Peugeot cars. A nice badge finishes up the front.
The side profile of the model has the all white theme broken up by 3 things, the small 3 stripes of colour, the door handle and the petrol cap detail, filing out those massive wide arches are some white multi-spoke rims. the aerial that’s typical on French cars of the era sits on the roof.
The rear of the model is very squat and wide, above the rear window sits a large roof spoiler and the window has the added detail of the rear window heater elements. All red light clusters make up the rear brakes, indicators and reserve lights, whilst the 106 Rallye and Dimma decals break up the white boot quite nicely, the bumper sports a small mesh area and a ‘Dimma’ number plate and finally a sports exhaust can finishes up the rear end nicely.
Finally the wheels on this model are quite chunky in appearance, but era correct, they do hide the brake discs and callipers a little but you can see them if you get close up.
In detail the interior space.
I can sometimes find the interiors of some of the sealed resin cars to be a little hit or miss in terms of detail, but the Peugeot 106 Dimma is a winner in this respect because the simplistic but colourful nature of the Original 1:1 car, the interior is quite a refreshing look and the door cards and the seats are splashed with the colours of the 106 Rallye emblem on the exterior of the model. you’ll find good clear instruments, cluster and heater control decals, coupled with good mouldings which finish a nice crisp interior look for the model.
Verdict?
Overall Otto-mobile models still represent excellent value for money at 69.99 euros, this little Dimma Peugeot 106 Rallye is a great offering from Otto-mobile and being from what I like to call the Max Power Era of car modifying (oversized bodykits, over the top paint and mega ear shattering stereo builds) is quite the novelty, and although this car wont grace my shelves of my personal collection (its not JDM!) it is still a very worthwhile purchase if you are a fan of hot hatches, French cars or simply like what you see here in n my post.
Pros:
- Great value for money
- Good overall quality
- Exterior paint is very good
- Good Interior Detail
Cons:
- Very delicate windows
